Your Mission:

You HAVE to play as Carthage. It totally wont work if you play as anyone else, because this is a quest scenario, made up of five parts.
All in all, you have to send your forces from Spain, into Gaul (France), through the Alps and down into Italia (Italy). Then start laying waste to certain Roman cities. You have to go this certain path, or you cant win. Also, once you capture a city, an event will appear and tell you which city to capture next and so on. Some other events will happen when you capture certain cities (e.g. a large Roman army will apear). Also, the capture of Rome is imposible, unless you have the deadly Ballista, which you get when you capture a certain city. You win when all objective cities are captured and all the battles are won and Hannibal has to stay alive, or the events dont make sense.

Five Parts
Here the instructions for loading a new part of the scenario. Once you capture a city; it tells you what city to capture next, but when it tells you to load the next part, dont panic.
First, turn on the cheat menu. Then go to save as scenario and save the game as Hannibal.scn. Then quit and put the events.txt and the hannibal.txt from the next section into the main folder. Then go back into CIV2 and load scenario Hannibal.scn and you will start out where you left off, but with new events.

Important Notice:
You need the CIV2 add-on, Fantastic Worlds, to play this scenario.

Hints and Tips:
- remember, you are at war with the Romans and the Tribes, but allied with the Macedonians.
- as you go though Gaul and the Alps, your forces will get spread out, so before you attack the Romans, wait for the stragglers.
- dont lose your elephants in Gaul, you need them in Rome.
- watch your money, the Carthaginian economy isnt as good as it once was.
-dont lose any of your cities in Carthage or Spain.
-there is a certain path through the Alps. It is easy to find, but straying from it could be deadly!
-you have to fight five major battles. You have to be good.
- you can transport (airlift) troops between Carthage and New Carthage.
-SAVE OFTEN!

Our Hero: Hannibal
Hannibal was the son of the King of Carthage, Hamlicar Barca.
During the First Punic War, in which Hamlicar fought the Roman Empire for control of Sicily, the king told his son, Hannibal, to swear to hate and fight the Roman empire. So after his fathers death, Hannibal was brought up by his uncle, Hasdrubal. When he was old enough, Hannibal became the general of the Carthaginian forces in Spain, a colony of Carthage. When his uncle died, Hannibal took control of the Carthaginian empire.
There was a city called Saguntum, a powerful city that had allied itself with Rome, that in the middle of Carthaginian territory in Spain. This city was very proud when diplomats from Sagunutm visited Carthage, on their return trip home, they harassed the North African tribes, which were allies with Carthage.
And so Hannibal declared war on Saguntum and Rome declared war on Carthage, starting the Second Punic War.

Our enemy: Scipio Africanus
Scipio Africanus was probably the greatest general in Roman history, second only to Caesar. He was the only general of his time to understand and menipulate Hannibals tactics.
By using Hannibals own battle tactics, this is how he defeated the Carthaginian king at the Battle of Zama. Scipios real name was Publis Cornielus Scipio, but after he conquered Carthage, which was known as Africa to the Romans, he was given the name of Scipio Africanus.
